Relieve the pain of arthritis with a Sundance Spa

Over the years, hydrotherapy in a hot tub has evolved from something to help you relax to a practice which can be therapeutic for a number of medical conditions including arthritis.

Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints which causes pain and swelling, as well as limiting movement. Medical researchers have found that spending time in a hot tub can help ease the aches and pains associated with arthritis and helping sooth joints to allow for more mobility.

According to the Arthritis Foundation, gentle stretching exercises should be done every day to help strengthen muscles and bones and increase flexibility. These exercises can also reduce the risk of joint injury, therefore protecting the joints, and doing these sorts of exercises in a hot tub can help ease stiff joints in the morning.

The American National Centre for Complementary and Alternative Medicine says that in the small number of controlled studies done on hydrotherapy for rheumatoid arthritis benefits have been reported.

Regular hydrotherapy can help with arthritis

Arthritis can make every day activities difficult, and when the pain strikes it can often be debilitating.

Sundance Spas' hydrotherapy can help relieve arthritis symptoms:

  • The heat from the warm water relaxes the entire body as it increases blood flow.
  • The massaging action of the jets loosens muscle tension and soothes sore joints.
  • The water's buoyancy makes you feel lighter, with up to 90% of your body weight lifted.

With Sundance Spas, you can set the water temperature and get a customised massage with the patented range of jets available, so you can sooth the areas which are troubling you. Owning your own hot tub from Sundance Spas means you can take advantage of it every single day and have effective pain relief always at your disposal.

Hydrotherapy and Type 2 Diabetes

The New England Journal of Medicine reported on a study (16-08-1999) regarding the benefits of physical exercise and therapy from the use of hot tubs. As reported, patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus were studied using a hot tub 30 minutes a day for 6 days per week.

After only 10 days, patients required reduced doses of insulin, lost weight, showed distinct decreases in plasma glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin, and benefited from an increase in their sense of well-being and better sleep.

The study also reported of benefits for patients who are unable to exercise. These patients would specifically benefit from increased blood flow to skeletal muscles. Once again, if you have this condition or other medical issues, you should also ask your doctor before starting any hydrotherapy program.
